Our Doctors

Dr Ian Griffiths - Consultant

Ian is a Consultant Occupational Physician and has worked as such in the NHS in Nottingham since 2003. 

He is an examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine's diploma qualification and has a particular interest in Fire and Rescue Service Occupational Health and infection control within OH.


Dr Ian Murphy - Consultant

Ian is a Consultant Occupational Physician and has worked as such in the NHS since 2001. He is a dissertation assessor for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine. His interests include clinical governance, audit and quality.


Dr John Marsden - Consultant

Dr Marsden completed his medical training at Kings College Hospital, London in the 1980s and after finishing his specialist training in Occupational Health worked in industry for a number of years before now working solely in OH within the NHS on a part-time basis.  

His interests are risk assessment, prevention, stress and mental health.


Dr Hajnalka Sereq - Trainee OH Doctor

Dr Sereq joined the team in August 2016 as a Trainee Occupational Doctor. Having worked as a hospital doctor previously she gained experience in treating a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions with conventional medical therapies.

In her current practice she uses the bio-psycho-social approach to manage health conditions; she is interested in gaining a better understanding of the multitude of factors influencing one's health, - particularly (but not exclusively) those related to work.  She believes that this holistic approach enables her to successfully facilitate long-term improvement of each individual's health and therefore increase their productivity at work.

Our Nurses


Adam - Deputy Manager/Clinical Lead Nurse

Adam started working at Nottingham City Hospital in 2005 within the Histopathology Department and then went on to complete a Degree in Nursing and qualified in 2011. Following qualification Adam worked in various roles within Neurosciences and in the Community. Adam joined OH in 2015 and has a particular interest in national and local political impact on health services as well as how OH is applied in agriculture.


Veronica - OH Nurse Specialist

Veronica has worked in OH since 1993 both in industry and the NHS.

Veronica gained a Diploma in OH from Nottingham Trent University and an MSc in Health Education/Health Promotion from Southampton University. She enjoys being involved with all the varied aspects of OH which is developing all the time. Veronica enjoys working with both her colleagues within the OH team and also with colleagues throughout the Trust in a number of different disciplines, finding the variety and scope of the work both rewarding and at times challenging.


Janet - OH Nurse Specialist

Janet has worked in OH for the NHS since 1996, initially as a Band 5 Nurse and then as a Band 6 Nurse before completing her specialist nurse training in 2011; since then she has been employed as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. Janet joined the NUH OH team in 2015 and one of her key responsibilities within the department is education and training. OH is fast paced challenging and interesting; it has a very broad remit which involves applying all her existing knowledge and experience whilst learning something new every day. She particularly enjoys the working with individuals and managers to facilitate staff to return to or remain in work and improve the general health and wellbeing of the workforce.    


David - OH Nurse Specialist

As a Registered Nurse he has worked in a number of clinical areas: Orthopaedics, Urology, Infectious Diseases, Burns and Plastics Surgery before moving into the field of OH in 2005. He has worked for a number of different organisations providing OH across a range of different workplace environments and settings.   Including the police, NHS, retail, industry, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, distribution, warehousing and contact handling centres.

David completed the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Degree in OH at London South bank University in 2008. David has also undertaken the NEBOSH safety course. Recently David completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Ergonomics at the University of Derby.


Catherine - OH Nurse Specialist

Catherine is an Occupational Health Nurse Specialist; she has worked in the Occupational Health department at NUH for 10 years. Catherine has an honours degree in Occupational Health Practice and a PG certificate in Workplace Health.

Catherine predominantly undertakes management referral work. Her areas of special interest are vaccination and immunisation, psychological health & wellbeing and health promotion.


Martin - OH Nurse Advisor.

Martin has worked as a nurse in Gastro, Theatre Recover and more recently as a Community Nurse. He has over 10 years Nursing experience with 10 years of Clinical Audit and Administration experience prior to that. Martin has worked for NUH since 1999.


Nicola - OH Nurse Advisor

Nicola trained at Coventry University and qualified as an Adult Nurse in September 2009 gaining a 2:1 Adult nursing BSc (hons). Since then she has worked for NUH, Firstly on a Neurology/Neurosurgical ward for 15 months, then the Accident Emergency Department for approximately 5 years before moving to work at OH. In December 2015 she started working as a Nurse Advisor of OH.

Her work related interests within OH are the psychological wellbeing of staff particularly whom work for the NHS. 


Nicky - OH Nurse Advisor

Nicky has been with the OH for just over a year now. She has been nursing for just over 20 years and has worked in Acute Medicine, Cardiology, Catheter Labs, ITU and was also a Practice Nurse for 10 years.  Her interests are staff health and wellbeing, health promotion and she is also the Basic Life Support trainer within the department, a role which she shares with a colleague.


Laura - OH Technician

Laura started working in OH in May 2016 as an OH Technician and has worked for the Trust for over 10 years in Ear, Nose and Throat, Maxillofacial and Endoscopy Departments.

Her work related interests are needle stick management for staff, health surveillance in audiometry, respiratory and staff health and wellbeing promotion.


Jan - OH Technician

Jan has been working as an OH Technician since 2004, having previously worked in Healthcare of the Elderly at Lings Bar Hospital.

Jan’s Role in OH is performing health surveillance for external companies & NUH Staff which includes audiometry, respiratory sensitisers & hand arm vibration.

Jan also carries out statutory medicals including Seafarers, Asbestos & Offshore Medicals for external clients.
