Sherif Gonem is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at NUH with a specialist interest in asthma, and leads the Nottingham Severe Asthma Service. He has a research interest in medical applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as medical technology such as wearable devices. Sherif was awarded a Medical Research Council Clinical Academic Research Partnership award (2020-23) to develop AI-based early warning scores for detecting clinical deterioration in hospital patients. He has recently received a grant from the NHS Transformation Directorate to introduce a wearable respiratory rate monitor to three wards at NUH. As joint R&I Lead for the Medicine Division, Sherif enjoys mentoring new researchers and helping them to develop their ideas.

Aamer is a consultant geriatrician at Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham with interface and front door frailty as his main area of clinical practice.

After graduating from University of Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan in 1990, he came to UK and then trained in geriatric medicine and general medicine.  He has worked as head of service, HCOP and Clinical Director Integrated medical services before joining as clinical lead for ICP South Nottinghamshire. This is a role to develop joint working of primary and secondary care within the community services to develop a county- wide strategy. As part of this role, he works with the End of Life care ICS steering group, ICS dementia steering group and ICS falls steering group. He is also working to introduce RESPECT forms within the NUH.

He is also serving as regional advisor to the Royal College of Physicians

He has co-authored the Nottingham University Hospital’s dementia strategy as NUH dementia lead and also chairs the NUH inpatient falls learning group.
