NUH welcomes new Director of Communications and Engagement

Following a competitive recruitment process, Jack Adlam has been appointed as NUH’s new Director of Communications and Engagement.

Jack has been acting into the role since October 2022. He joins us from the NHS England regional team for the Midlands where he led the communications and engagement function for the largest of the seven NHS regions. Prior to this, Jack worked at some of the biggest and busiest hospitals in the Midlands and in London, including NUH.

As Director of Communications and Engagement, Jack will lead a team responsible for ensuring that there is effective communication in place with staff, that we develop and sustain positive working relationships with our partners and stakeholders, including local and national media, and that our patients and communities know what their local NHS is trying to achieve and how we’re doing it. Jack will also be the executive director responsible for voluntary services.

Chief Executive Anthony May, DL, said: “As we work to make the necessary improvements to our services, the way we communicate and engage with our diverse audiences will be vital to our success and delivery of our vision to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient and staff experience. Jack’s experience, knowledge and personal commitment and connection to NUH will be a valuable addition to the Trust and I’m pleased to welcome him as a permanent member of the corporate executive team.”

Jack said: “NUH is my local hospital - it’s where I was born, it's where my children were born, and it’s where I’ve spent a significant part of my working life. I feel immense pride in being appointed to this role and I will work tirelessly alongside my colleagues and our partners to build on the work we have started and bring about the positive change and improvement that all of us at NUH want to see and that our communities deserve.”

Jack’s appointment means that all positions in NUH’s executive leadership team are now filled permanently, following the appointments of Andy Callow, Gilbert George and Paul Matthew.
