Gastrointestinal Investigations
Paediatric gastrointestinal investigations are carried out at the Bastow Laboratory.
We provide a diagnostic service investigating gastrointestinal health problems such as gastroesophageal reflux, constipation, faecal incontinence, upper abdominal pain, and digestion problems.
Tests provided include:
- 24hr pH impedance investigations - food diary log required for this study
- Hydrogen breath tests including: bacterial overgrowth, lactose and fructose tolerance tests
- 13-C urea breath tests to investigate the presence of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach
- Pelvic ultrasound scans to measure rectal crescents
