Sponsorship of Research at NUH | Research News and Media

We are currently undertaking a root and branch review of our research sponsorship policies and procedures.

This is part of our assurance programme following the Good Clinical Practice inspection of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in March 2024.

To enable us to complete this review, and to ensure that we involve as many stakeholders as possible in shaping our new sponsorship processes, we will be introducing a temporary pause on accepting new sponsorship requests for six months.

This pause only affects new requests for sponsorship not yet submitted to the Research and Innovation Governance Team.

Research studies that are already at any stage of the current sponsorship process; grants which have already been submitted with NUH as sponsor; or which have already opened to recruitment; are not affected.

The pause in new sponsorship requests will be for a period of six months, starting from Wednesday 16 April 2025.

We are committed to working with you to minimise any impacts on your request for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust to act as sponsor for your research. We will also work with you to ensure that our new processes are designed with your needs in mind, leading to a more streamlined, efficient and effective route to sponsorship to be introduced later in the year.
