you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) – a high temperature, a new continuous cough, or a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of smell or taste (anosmia) – the advice is to stay at home for 10 days. Information on self-isolation rules if a member of your household tests positive for Covid-19 or if you are classed as a contact, can be found here.

If you think you have symptoms, please do not attend your hospital appointment until you are advised it is safe to do so. Please contact us to rearrange your appointment, or to re-organise treatment and tests.

Tests and scans

We offer an extensive range of tests and diagnostic imaging at QMC and City Hospital. Diagnostic imaging is the creation of images mainly through X-rays, ultrasound (sound waves) or MRI (magnetic fields). These images give medical staff the information they need to make a correct diagnosis of a clinical condition.

Making, changing or cancelling an appointment (GP referrals)

If you have been referred by your GP you will be asked to contact our call centre on 0115 875 4568 to arrange an appointment. If you are unable to attend the appointment, please contact our call centre as soon as possible to change or cancel your appointment.

Clinic referrals

Your doctor will tell you whether a digital imaging examination can be performed on the same day as a clinic appointment that has already been booked. If this is not possible we will contact you to arrange a suitable date and time.
