
The Foundation Training Programme is a two year generic training programme offering exposure in a variety of specialties and healthcare settings. As a Foundation doctor at NUH you may be based at either Nottingham City Hospital or Queen’s Medical Centre. Some placements will involve working across both campuses.
Throughout both your FY1 and FY2 year you must be working towards demonstrating all the competencies in the curriculum. Further information can be found on the UKFPO website. Please make sure you familiarise yourself with the 2021 curriculum.

To help you complete all the competencies you need to complete you will need the following:
Direct observation of doctor/patient encounter SLEs (Mini-CEX and DOPS).
•Case Based Discussions (CbD)
•1 successful TAB round (including self-TAB)
•1 placement supervision group assessment (PSG)
•1 Developing the Clinical Teacher
•Elfh modules
In your FY1 year you will be asked to attend an acute simulation course & careers workshop. The ILS course will be available to you during your shadowing periods. In FY2 you will be invited to attend an acute simulation course and ALS Course.
The teaching programme at NUH covers a variety of topics outlined in the curriculum. Teaching takes place:
Foundation Year 1 Teaching takes place on a weekly basis Tuesday 12:15-13:30.
Foundation Year 2 Teaching takes place on a weekly basis Thursday 13:00-15:00
