Nottingham hosts national experimental medicine conference

The Nottingham Clinical Research Facility is hosting the 2019 UK Clinical Research Facility Network annual conference in June.
“Curing the incurable” takes place on 27 and 28 June 2019 at the East Midlands Conference Centre and is the 15th annual event dedicated to future developments in experimental medicine.
The UK is leading the world in clinical research, which contributes significantly to the health and wealth of the nation. Across the UK, we have one of the most comprehensive research systems in the world.
The UKCRF Network was established in 2008 with the aim of identifying and developing systems that enable a co-ordinated approach for the delivery and management of clinical trials across the UK’s experimental medicine infrastructure. This year’s conference is “Curing the incurable: Interdisciplinary approaches to research”, and through a mix of plenary and parallel sessions will focus on the role of clinical research facilities in supporting research teams from across all disciplines to change the future of health and social care.
The Conference is expected to attract over 400 delegates from across the UK’s experimental medicine infrastructure, including senior researchers, scientists, research leaders, managers, nurses, AHPs, laboratory staff, technical and support staff. These are the people who are responsible for delivering thousands of experimental medicine studies across the UK.
The Conference is a partnership between the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), UK Clinical Research Facilities Network, Chief Science Office (Scotland) and the NIHR Nottingham Clinical Research Facilities and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
The Conference includes national and international speakers from across the UK’s Clinical Research Facilities and this year includes new scientific developments in:
- Gastrointestinal disorders; liver diseases; and metabolism and nutrition
- Paediatric medicine
- Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis
- Collaborative working with Biomedical Research Centres
- Patient and Public involvement in experimental medicine
