Public invited to hear about the work of Nottingham’s hospitals and have a say on their future
The Trust, which runs the Queen’s Medical Centre, City Hospital and Ropewalk House, is inviting the public to attend a free community event on Monday 10 July.
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) will hold their Annual Public Meeting (APM) at Nottingham Trent University’s city campus on Burton Street (NG1 4BU) from 10am-4pm. It is the first time the annual event will be held at a venue in the community, instead of the hospital.
Throughout the day attendees will find out more about career paths and job vacancies in their local NHS, have a say on the future of Nottingham’s hospitals and hear about the latest performance and plans to improve services, including maternity care which is currently subject to an independent review.
Staff from across the Trust will provide advice and guidance on careers in the NHS, including apprenticeships and opportunities to volunteer. A range of workshops will also give practical advice and guidance on how to write applications when applying for jobs in the NHS, as well as useful interview techniques.
With more than £1billion of investment due into Nottingham’s hospitals over the next ten years, attendees will hear more about plans to redevelop the QMC and City Hospital sites, as well as have their say on the proposals.
The public will also be able to put their questions to members of the Trust Board, including the Chair and Chief Executive, and a series of presentations will update attendees about the Trust’s performance over the past year, including the vital contribution made by Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
Exhibition stands hosted by staff and volunteers throughout the day will provide information about a range of services that the Trust offers.
The team
behind Channel 4’s award-winning documentary series, 24 Hours in A&E will also be on hand to share their insights of filming in one of the country’s biggest and busiest accident and emergency departments at the QMC.

The Annual Public Meeting is an opportunity to bring our communities together to hear about the work we are doing to improve services and have their say on our future plans.
“Holding the event at a venue in the city centre is part of our commitment and desire to better engage and listen to our communities and respond to their needs by being accessible.
