Minister of State for Health visits QMC

Mr Hammond, who is Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care, visited the newly-expanded Urgent and Emergency Care Centre on Thursday to hear about the improvements which have been made following a £4.5m investment.

The new UECC, a new Adult Emergency Department entrance, was opened in December and is the most significant development for urgent and emergency care at Nottingham’s hospitals in 15 years, and aims to further improve patient and staff experience and the timeliness of patient care. After a tour of A&E, Mr Hammond then met a group off staff from a variety of departments to talk about life at NUH.

Health Minister Stephen Hammond MP said: “I was delighted to meet the dedicated staff at the Queen's Medical Centre, to listen to the issues that matter to them and talk to them about their important role in delivering the ambitions set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. It was inspiring to hear from clinicians about their plans to transform services – including separating the adult and children's A&E entrances – which is already having a positive impact on patients’ experience.‎”
