Dr. Karim Kreft

Dr. Karim Kreft

Dr. Karim Kreft is a Consultant Neurologist with a specialist interest in neuro-inflammatory disorders, particularly multiple sclerosis (MS). He holds a PhD in the immunogenetics of MS, with research exploring the genetic and immune mechanisms underlying disease susceptibility and progression. Dr. Kreft completed his neurology training in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

At the University of Nottingham, Dr. Kreft serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in Neurology, where his research aims to improve personalised care in MS by developing predictive models for treatment response, assessing long-term outcomes, and minimising side effects. He is also actively involved in designing and conducting studies that investigate strategies to prevent or delay the onset of MS in high-risk individuals. He is committed to translating research findings into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Dr Athanasios Papathanasiou

Dr Papathanasiou has been a neurology consultant since 2013. His neurology training took place in Aeginition Hospital, University of Athens, Greece and in Queen’s Hospital, Romford, UK. He has a PhD in Multiple Sclerosis from University of Patras, Medical School, Greece. His subspecialty interest includes Multiple Sclerosis, neuroinflammatory conditions (particularly Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder and Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein-Associated Disease) and Myasthenia Gravis.

Dr Saam Sedehizadeh is a consultant Neurologist at Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham. He completed his higher specialist training in Neurology and was appointed consultant neurologist at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2017. He completed his PhD in the field of molecular genetics related to myotonic dystrophy at the University of Nottingham in 2019. Dr Radu Tanasescu

Dr Radu Tanasescu

Dr Radu Tanasescu is Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Clinical Associate Professor of Neurology. He did his medical, neurological, and research training in Romania, France, and the UK. Dr Tanasescu specializes in neuroinflammatory disease (MS, NMOSD, MOGAD, autoimmune encephalitis etc.) and runs Neuroinflammation and General Neurology clinics at NUH and KMH. Dr Tanasescu is a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) and leads the EAN Science School. He co-authored two European Guidelines in Neurology. He is the Neurology Specialty Lead for the East Midlands NIHR Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN). He is research-active and aims to improve the understanding and outcomes of neurological disease through meaningful translational neurology research. His research interests concern the modulation of the neuroimmune axis in health and disease, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on clinical data, and the use of noninvasive neuromodulation to improve symptoms and tackle maladaptive neuroplasticity.
