Study into antibodies for COVID-19 in young people opens in Nottingham

The study is called ‘What’s the STORY’ (Serum Testing of Representative Youngsters) aims to take serum (blood) samples to test the levels of antibodies in people up to the age of 24 years. Young people in the East Midlands are being asked to take part at one of ten centres around the country carrying out tests as part of research led by the University of Oxford.

Researchers based at Cripps Health Centre on the University of Nottingham campus are looking to recruit young adults and children aged between 0 and 19 years old who live in the East Midlands. The researchers are being supported by the Children’s Research team from Nottingham University Hospitals and scientists from the NIHR Nottingham Clinical Research Facility.

Taking part in ‘What’s the STORY?’ involves making a single visit to give a blood sample, with optional additional visits for a subset of participants. Only one child per family can take part, unless the children have birthdays more than five years apart. Anyone aged 19 and under with a Nottingham, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire or Leicestershire postcode is eligible to take part.

More details on the study are available online where you can also register your interest in taking part through this website.

Participants who travel to Nottingham as part of the trial are eligible to receive a £20 voucher as compensation.
