A 32-bed ward on our City Hospital site has reopened after undergoing a much-needed £1.7million refurbishment and has now reopened to patients.
Southwell Ward is used by our Medicine care group, primarily for respiratory patients.
Patients who would normally be treated in that unit have been located on the Newell Ward for the last three months while the work was being carried out.
The newly refurbished ward includes new bathrooms in the five- and six-bed bays, and ensuites in the single rooms, new dirty and clean utility and a refreshed reception desk and offices.

The renovation, funded by the Trust, was carried out in just 12 weeks by Pacy & Wheatley Interiors.
The team worked split shifts and long weeks in order to deliver the build as quickly as possible for our staff and patients.
Victoria Fensome, Director of Nursing and Professions for Medicine, said: “We are pleased to be moving back into Southwell Ward as this much needed refurbishment will make a real difference to the experience of our patients and staff.
“The whole ward now looks much smarter and has a more modern feel, and the facilities throughout are a much better quality.
“Thank you to our colleagues in Respiratory Medicine and the wider team for their support and patience, as well as to our Capital and Estates and Facilities Team for all their hard work to make this happen in such a short timeframe.”
