School Children Poems Put “Pride of Place” in Vaccination Hubs

Last week staff at the QMC Vaccine Hub were presented with framed poems by Caitlin and Oscar from Carnarvon Primary School as a way of thanking NHS staff for their work during the Covid pandemic.

Caitlin and Oscar were the winners of a competition put together by Barrett Homes PR Agency, in which pupils were asked to write poems which celebrate the efforts of NHS workers throughout the last 18 months. The winning poems have been framed and will be kept at the vaccination hubs at QMC and City sites.

Laura Mitchell, Covid Matron for NUH’s Vaccination Hub said “We would like to thank all the children who participated at the Carnarvon Primary School with their poems dedicated to those who have worked during the Covid pandemic. We are extremely privileged to accept these poems and they will be pride of place at our vaccination hubs at both QMC and City.”

“We urge those that are eligible for the vaccines, whether that is first, second or boosters, still to come forward. From 1st April please look out for the launch of our 5-11 year olds Covid-19 vaccination campaign. Please do come forward for your vaccination and help keep those around you safe.”

Here are the two winning poems:

Numerous Heroes saving lives,
Necessary to be grateful
Nursing everyone in need,
Never forget to say thank you,

Hospitals helping people to live without Covid-19,
Hopeful as always for a positive future,
Hailing the doctors, nurses and volunteers,
Happiness filling all our hearts as we shout THANK YOU,

Spirited to the end,
Selfless as always,
Serving our country at all times,
Special skilled volunteers so don’t forget to say THANK YOU
Caitlin, Age 10

Thanks for all the work you have done
We know it has not been fun,
I want to give you all a hug,
But let’s not spread that Covid bug,
Thank to you the end is nearly here,
So grab a drink and say cheers!
Oscar, age 7

Team NUH would again like thank Caitlin and Oscar for their lovely poems.
