NUH Chief Executive named Deputy Lieutenant for Nottinghamshire
Anthony May, Chief Executive of Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust, has been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for Nottinghamshire.
Anthony, who was appointed by the Lord Lieutenant Sir John Peace, joins a team of 53 Deputy Lieutenants who serve the communities of Nottinghamshire, helping the Lord Lieutenant in his role as The King’s representative.
Deputy Lieutenants are selected from distinguished residents of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire for their contribution to the well-being of the local or wider community, via public life, charitable activity, voluntary service or the uniformed services.
Before joining NUH in September 2022, Anthony was one of the longest-serving chief executives of Nottinghamshire County Council. Formerly the Corporate Director for Children, Families and Cultural Services, and Deputy Chief Executive, Anthony has substantial experience in delivering strategic improvements to meet local and national priorities.
Anthony said: “As a long-term resident of Nottinghamshire, I am proud to have been appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant. From my previous experience with Sir John and his team, I know how much the Lieutenancy contributes to Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. I am delighted to be able to play my part.”
Deputy Lieutenants must have the ability and willingness to make time within their existing commitments to support the work of the Lord Lieutenant by deputising for him at Remembrance parades, on royal visits and at citizenship ceremonies, and by contributing their skillsets in ways that will support one or more of the Armed Forces, the local economy, the charitable sector and the honours and awards system.
