Nottingham University Hospitals Trust appeals for new volunteers

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust are appealing for more volunteers to join the team - which provides a full range of local and specialist services for the people of Nottingham and beyond.
Currently there are just over 800 volunteers supporting patients and staff at the Queens Medical Centre, City hospital and at Ropewalk house. The roles vary from Library Trolley Volunteer to Nottingham Hospital radio volunteers.
However, NUH is now seeking more volunteers to become involved across all three hospital campuses. They are looking for around 30 volunteers to become ‘meet and greet volunteers’ at the City Campus on Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm. As well as an unlimited number of opportunities to become a ‘Meal Time Companion’, seven days a week, at 11.30am or 4.30 pm each for two to three hours.
Kerry Harper, Voluntary Services Manager said: “Volunteers at NUH are special individuals who excel in supporting patients, staff and visitors with a welcoming smile and a comforting word. If you feel you have the time and people skills to join our wonderful volunteer team, please do contact us for further information regarding joining the NUH volunteer family”.
Alan Wright has been a volunteer at NUH for 18 years across a range of volunteering roles. He said: “I enjoy volunteering as I am able to help to enhance the patient experience, whilst personally helping my own physical and mental health. I would actively encourage anyone who is able to volunteer to give it a go as it can lead to increased self-satisfaction as well as potentially increase your personal social group and also be beneficial to your own CV.”
