Nottingham University Hospital staff feed Nottinghamshire's most in need

Our staff rallied together behind the scenes to find a way that Nottingham University Hospitals could give something back to help our local communities, and say thank you for the generosity shown to us this year. Staff from all departments and roles in our hospitals organised a food bank donation from Team NUH to our local food banks in Nottingham, by inviting colleagues from across the trust to donate non-perishable food items to drop off points across our sites. After the donations were collected, they were held in quarantine for 72 hours before being transported to a local foodbank warehouse and distribution centre.

The result -  our staff donated a huge 14 roll cages worth of food for those in the most need across our communities.

Matt Bodell, one of our Nurses and Hospital at Night Coordinators, said:

"I think we expected maybe a couple of roll cages - 14 was beyond our hopes really and, when we filled it all together, it made me incredibly proud to work at the hospital I work at."

Speaking of the huge team effort involved in the donations, from both clinical staff and non-clinical staff at our hospitals, Matt said:

"It embodies the kindness, generosity and thoughtfulness of all our colleagues."

We are very proud of our teams for pulling together to make this happen.
