New role for Aquiline Chivinge MBE

On a sunny day in March Aquiline Chivinge was at Windsor Castle receiving her MBE from His Royal Highness Prince Charles. The Senior Nurse Research Leader was recognised in the New Year Honours for her services to patients from Ethnic Minority backgrounds, a moment she described as ‘humbling’.

A few months on, she has been appointed Assistant Director of Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Inclusion. She will be driving our inclusion strategy at NUH, a role she is proud to hold:

“My goal is to ensure that all staff, patients and carers at NUH have equality of opportunity, equal access to employment, promotion and development and equal access to services. I know we are not where we want to be and there is still a lot of work to do, but I look forward to working with stakeholders at every level on this inclusion agenda.”

Aquiline Chivinge MBE has worked for the NHS for 25 years. She trained in Zimbabwe as a Registered General Nurse and Midwife, before moving to Scotland and Australia, and settling in Nottingham in 1997.

Throughout her career, Aquiline has achieved a lot of recognition, including the 2020 Chief Nursing Officer for England Silver Award and in 2019 started 70@70 National Institute for Health Research three year Fellowship Programme. In 2018 Aquiline was a founding member of the BAME Shared Governance Council at NUH to improve inclusiveness.
