Meet the judging panel for the inaugural Team NUH Awards

The first Team NUH Awards are taking place virtually on Wednesday 13th October. Everyone is welcome to the virtual awards ceremony, and can register here: https://nuhawards.cwaevents.co.uk/register

Sponsored by partners from across Nottingham and beyond, the awards celebrate and recognise the fantastic work happening across our hospitals. We are pleased to announce the official judging panel, who, along with our sponsors, have had to make the difficult decisions of selecting overall annual winners across nine categories, from shortlists of staff and teams that have won quarterly Team NUH Awards throughout 2021. Our judging panel of nine are listed below, along with quotes on their involvement with the Team NUH Awards as a judge.

Alex Norris MP, Member of Parliament for Nottingham North and Shadow Minister for Prevention, Public Health and Primary Care, said:

“I’m pleased to be part of the judging panel for this year’s Team NUH Awards. The last 18 months have been an exceptionally challenging time for NHS staff, so it’s brilliant to have the opportunity to recognise and celebrate outstanding work within the NUH Team.”

Amanda Sullivan, Accountable Officer NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG, and Interim Executive Lead Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System, said:

“It was inspiring to read the entries and to see how so many people have gone above and beyond their role to really care for colleagues and people who need NUH services, well done to everyone who was nominated.”

Chief Constable Craig Guildford of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

"I'm delighted to have been asked to be part of the judging panel for the Team NUH Awards 2021.The police and health service often work side by side and I am acutely aware that the NHS is full of outstanding individuals who routinely go above and beyond for the public. It is really important - especially during everything people in the service have dealt with during the Covid pandemic - that we recognise their efforts. Having read through the list of award nominees, regardless of who wins, they are all truly inspirational people deserving of recognition.”

Commissioner Caroline Henry Nottinghamshire's Police and Crime Commissioner, said:

"Staff at NUH deserve recognition for their tireless work over the past year. That is why I am delighted to be presenting an award and express my personal gratitude to all NUH staff members."

Darren Henry MP Member of Parliament for Broxtowe, Co-Chair Midlands Engine APPG

“I was honoured to be asked to be an external judge for the Team NUH Awards. I was very impressed with the high calibre of the candidates, they were all very deserving. And I think it is fitting we celebrate and recognise outstanding staff at NUH which these awards do.”

Natalie Fahy, Editor of Nottingham Post, Derby Telegraph and Lincolnshire Echo, said:

"I am honoured to be part of this judging panel. So many members of staff at NUH go above and beyond every single day and we all know the last 18 months has presented some major challenges. Picking winners was incredibly hard - the nominations were incredibly moving."

Sarah Julian, BBC Radio Nottingham Presenter, said:

"After the terribly difficult year we’ve all had, and the heartbreaking stories I’ve reported on, it was such a joy to be able to hear about the brilliant work of the dedicated volunteers at NUH. It was a great privilege to read the comments from patients and the difference that the volunteers can make to their time in hospital."

Nicholas Randall QC Nottingham Forest Chairman and Richard Henderson, Chief Executive East Midlands Ambulance Service are also on the judging panel.

Our organisational values, and the behaviours that underpin them, are the crux of our staff recognition and awards programme (the Team NUH Awards), and we are grateful to be working with organisations that pride themselves on similar values, and that are passionate about supporting staff here at Nottingham University Hospitals to be celebrated and rewarded for outstanding work.
