“It is rare that you come across standout individuals like Amelia.”

Amelia is one of our senior Occupational Therapists, she works on our Rehabilitation Unit, specifically with patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Our Chief People Officer, Dr Neil Pease, presented Amelia with a high commendation in our staff awards – the Team NUH Awards. This was in the Nurturing category, which is sponsored by Tisski.

Tisski are one of the UK’s leading Microsoft Gold Partners and Cloud Solutions Providers. They use technology to transform organisations and introduce new ways of working. They configure Microsoft’s award-winning Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform to bring solutions which benefit companies, and they work with some of the UK’s largest organisations, including the Ministry of Defence and the Department for Transport.

Amelia was nominated by a former student in the department, (also called Amelia!).

The nomination is glowing, and the impact that Amelia has on both her colleagues and patients is clearly long lasting. The nomination reads...

“Amelia promotes a culture of compassion and encouragement, making NUH Rehabilitation Unit a special place to be. Amelia strikes an effortless balance between professionalism and genuine warmth, a skill that should not be underestimated when navigating Parkinson’s disease and its complexities.

Amelia’s depth of knowledge and her professional skill is inspiring; the ability to make every single person she comes across feel welcome is incredibly unique. Amelia goes above and beyond to ensure that patients have a positive treatment experience and that the staff members she works with feel valued. Amelia's bright personality and consistency facilitates a smooth working environment, where she is a 'go to', approachable staff member as a result of her genuine warmth and care. I cannot think of a better word than ‘nurturing’ to describe Amelia's personal and professional character.”

On receiveing her award, Amelia said that she was very touched.

A big congratulations to Amelia.
