Dr Kath Halliday elected as next Royal College of Radiologists President

Dr Kath Halliday has been elected as the next President of The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR). She will take up this role later this year, on 1st September 2022, for three years.

Kath is a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist, and our Radiology Clinical Director, as well the national Getting It Right First Time Lead for radiology. Graduating from the University of Manchester in Medicine, and having trained across the UK, and abroad in Australia, Kath has held her Consultant post at our hospitals since 1998.

As Chair of the British Society of Paediatric Radiology from 2010-2016, she led  the working group for the updated guidance for imaging in cases of suspected physical child abuse abuse, a subject of which she has a special interest in. In 2017, Kath achieved the national appointment of Clinical Lead for the Getting It Right First Time radiology programme, and in early 2021 she took up the post of Clinical Director of our Radiology service. 

Speaking of her appointment Dr Katharine Halliday said:

‘I am honoured to have been elected and delighted. Thank you so much for the faith you have placed in me – I promise to give it my all.’
