24 hours in A&E is back at the QMC kicking off with episode entitled “Sunny Side Up”

Channel 4’s award-winning documentary, 24 Hours in A&E is back in Nottingham, as it returns to our screens from Queen’s Medical Centre (QMC), one of the busiest A&E departments in Europe.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) welcomed cameras into the A&E at QMC.  

 “Sunny Side Up” which follows the stories of families and how their bonds have been tested through life-changing events.

In the first episode we meet 34-year-old Sunny who has been brought into resus after being assaulted while protecting his sister. Clinicians are concerned when a sudden drop in Sunny’s blood pressure could be caused by internal bleeding. We hear from Sunny and his sister, Amandeep about their family, their close, protective relationship and how they have had to pull together during times of loss.

Meanwhile, Claire, who works at QMC has brought her son Tyler to A&E after he injured his foot during football practice at school; While Tyler gets sent through to x-ray, Claire reveals why she was inspired to care at QMC after her mum suffered a traumatic brain haemorrhage years earlier and was saved by surgeons at QMC.

And 87-year-old Eunice has been brought to QMC after continuously coughing up blood. Her daughter, Linda describes the worry as “horrendous” as they phoned for an ambulance. Linda remarks on her Mum’s strong nature and her life as a working mother.

You can watch the first episode this coming Monday, 15 June 2026, at 9pm on Channel 4 or all episodes will be available to stream from 15th June.
