This award celebrates the thousands of hospital staff who volunteer each year to support the work of our hospitals charity through fundraising or the creative use of charity funds, or who help raise funds for their hospital area.
Akpevwen is deeply committed to raising funds for breast cancer charities and the Trust, playing a key role in organising events including a charity walk and open day. Her enthusiasm has inspired others, boosted team morale, and improved engagement in charity efforts. She's shown great dedication and resilience, all to support better breast cancer awareness and patient care.
Andy has raised countless funds over many years for Nottingham Hospitals Charity through personal challenges, including a 500-mile cycle around Kidney Lake. He is also leading a campaign to raise £40,000 for the children's kidney unit’s 40th anniversary, inspiring staff and patients to join in. His continuous efforts greatly support the Charity and patients through their diagnosis and treatment.
This year, alongside their work with families within the community, the Homebirth Team have helped raise funds for Nottingham Hospitals Charity. They’ve taken part in several events, even organising their own, to raise funds to enhance their service. They have also inspired others to support, volunteer and spread awareness, and have become true Charity Champions.
Joy has fundraised for The Child Bereavement Team for many years, and has also run her own bargain stall, offering affordable goods to support both bereaved families and the wider community. Her passion and commitment have made a vital difference - funding everything from tissues to keepsake resources. Without Joy, much of the support available simply wouldn't be possible.
Mr Basu has combined his passion for photography to create beautiful nature-themed greetings cards for Nottingham Hospitals Charity shop, covering costs himself. Every card sold supports improved patient care across our hospitals. His life-saving care has also inspired his patients and families to fundraise in his honour, where funds raised are already having a huge impact.
