Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust has joined forces with a city hair salon to provide wigs for cancer patients from a minority ethnic background.

The project came about after patients told NUH’s BAME Shared Governance group about the indignity of leaving hospital in a blue wig after chemotherapy. Others reported the impact on their mental health and self-esteem after being given pink or green wigs.

Research that has developed a protein rich ice-crean to improve the nutritional health of older people at NUH has won a national award.

Independence Day for children living with allergies

Nottingham Children’s Hospital is holding a special Independence event for children and young people living with allergies next week.

The event will bring together youth workers, specialist nurses and a dietician to help those with a diagnosed food allergy and/or difficult asthma or eczema to become more confident about managing their allergies.
