Families with children with a rare neurodegenerative disease, Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T), received a major boost in June after news they could continue to receive a trial treatment thanks to the Nottingham University Hospitals Research & Innovation team.

A mum given three months to live in January 2020 is now cancer free – and has returned to Nottingham hospitals to thank the people who saved her life.
Caroline Guy, 56, was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, which had spread to her ovaries and her liver. After extensive surgery at the Queen’s Medical Centre six weeks ago, she is cancer free and living life to the full. Her symptoms were initially dismissed by a GP as menopausal.
