The infected blood inquiry (IBI) is an independent public inquiry, chaired by Sir Brian Langstaff, which was set up to investigate the circumstances around patients infected with HIV and hepatitis (B and C) due to blood and infected blood products in the NHS in the 1970s-1980s. This included many patients who were infected following blood transfusions, and patients with haemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
