Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

The Inflammatory Bowel Disease supports over five thousand adult patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease (IBD) in the Nottinghamshire area.  We also provide a tertiary service for patients in other trusts who require specialist intervention.  Our service is based at Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) NHS Trust . We deliver inpatient IBD care at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC).  Outpatient services are provided at QMC, the Treatment Centre (TC) and Nottingham City Hospital (NCH).  We deliver medications that require infusion into the vein at the Treatment Centre.

We are fortunate to have a strong multi-disciplinary team at NUH who strive to deliver excellent and consistent care.  We work closely with specialists from gastroenterology, surgery, nursing, clinical nutrition, radiology, dietetics, pharmacy and histopathology to deliver care to our patients. We are supported by a hard working administration team.  The NUH IBD team is actively involved in national and international clinical trials with opportunities for our patients to become involved in research.

Contact Helpline

Previously we had 2 helpline numbers, one for the treatment center and one for the city hospital. We have now combined these numbers so patients can call either 0115 9709324 or 0115 8402633 to access the same IBD advice line or via email IBDhelpline@nuh.nhs.uk
