Clinical Immunology and Allergy Department

We are based at the QMC and treat patients with immuno-deficiency, allergy and auto-inflammatory diseases.

We are a regional centre for adults with primary immune deficiency and allergy and children with immunodeficiency. We see patients from Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, some parts of Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.

Conditions we treat include:

Allergies

  • Rhinitis or hay fever that is difficult to Allergic rhinitis
  • Urticaria (hives rash) and angioedema (swelling) that meet the criteria set out by the Notts APC guideline
  • Anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction which may require adrenaline treatment)
  • Food allergy
  • Insect sting allergy
  • Drug allergy, including allergic reactions to general anaesthetic drugs

Immunology

  • Recurrent or unusual infections
  • Periodic fever/auto-inflammatory syndromes
