Do you speak our languages?

We are looking for caring individuals to join a service providing translations for patients at our City and QMC sites.

The development is part of the Trust’s drive to provide a better service to patients speaking other languages while bringing down translation costs paid to external agencies. The Trust is looking for volunteers who can be trained and provide a service while they work towards a formal qualification.

Volunteer interpreters will bolster an emergency in-house service which currently relies mainly on members of staff who volunteer. External agencies still provide the majority of translation services at the Trust.

If you are a bilingual speaker, language student or native speaker with an excellent command of English and are interested in volunteering please contact Renata Towlson, Interpreting and Translation Project and Contract Manager, on renata.towlson@nuh.nhs.uk or mobile 07812 268 800.

We are particularly looking for people who speak any of these languages:

  • Arabic
  • Cantonese
  • Czech
  • Farsi
  • Hungarian
  • Polish
  • Punjabi
  • Romanian
  • Slovak
  • Turkish
  • Urdu
