This award is for an individual or team who has led by example to recognise and look after staff and/or patient health and wellbeing.

AMBITIOUS - Aspiring for Excellence Award

For an individual or team who has/have shown one or more of the following:

  • Helped people to get the best possible outcomes for patients or a team;
  • Actively encouraged initiatives and positively rewarded good ideas;
  •  Looked at what's worked well and used these ideas to make things better;
  • Can demonstrate a development that is contributing to the delivery of an excellent service for our patients.

MINDFUL - Respect and Inclusion for Everyone Award

For an individual or team who has/have shown one or more of the following:

  • Demonstrated that they see each person as unique and valuable (and values the contributions of each member of Team NUH)
  • Promoted equality for all, and inclusive excellence, through wide-ranging activities
  • Helped to address a known health inequality affecting a diverse community
  • Gone to outstanding efforts to promote an environment free from bias and discrimination

NURTURING - Innovation, Research & Improvement Award

This award is for an individual, team or service that has raised the profile of research and education, innovation or quality improvement.

UNITED - Working Together Award

For a team who has/have shown one or more of the following:

  • Consistently demonstrated that patients and colleagues come first in everything they do
  • Fully involved patients, staff, family, carers, communities and professionals inside and outside the NHS
  • Actively listened to the views of others so that the best way forward can be found
  • Can demonstrate a commitment to partnership working for the benefit of our patients and their colleagues

HONEST - Patient Safety & Quality Award

For an individual or team who has/have shown one or more of the following:

  • Openness, fairness and honesty in all that they do and shown courage to speak up and challenge when things are not right or at the required standard
  • Improved patient safety and quality in a defined area or across the whole organisation

Other awards

Community Champion Award (NUH Charity sponsored)

This award is for an individual or group from the community who have supported and fundraised for NUH, benefitting patients and staff at our hospitals.


Volunteer of the Year Award

This award is for an individual or team (either registered NUH volunteers or ‘other’ volunteers) who has worked in partnership with NUH, giving up their unpaid time for the benefit of patients, carers and staff.


Fundraiser of the Year Award (NUH Charity sponsored)

This award recognises staff who have dedicated their time and energy to fundraising activities that benefit the Nottingham Hospitals Charity. They have done this to support the Charity’s mission to be at the heart of caring, for the benefit of patients and the staff who have cared for them.


Apprentice of the Year Award

The award is for an apprentice at NUH who has made a real difference to the organisation, by going above and beyond to seek out knowledge and enhance their capabilities.  


Trainee of the Year Award

This award recognises an individual in the early stages of their career in healthcare, who has combined practical skills with a commitment to ongoing learning.


Team of the Year Award

This award is for a team (clinical or non-clinical) who deliver exceptional results to either patient care or service delivery by working together as a team, to achieve their goals.


Leader of the Year Award

This award recognises someone who has shown exceptional leadership skills irrespective of their position, sets high standards and is an excellent role model.


Unsung Hero of the Year Award

This award recognises the contribution staff (individuals/team) who provide vital ‘behind the scenes’ work, who do not provide direct clinical care to patients. Without the committed efforts of these colleagues who deliver this frontline care to patients, NUH would not be able to provide high quality services.


Chairman’s Award

This is a special award to recognise the outstanding contribution of a colleague who has served the organisation over many years. The winner of this award will be selected by the NUH Chair.
