Specialist Genetic Services
Coronavirus (COVID-19) update
The Nottingham Clinical Genetics service have suspended all face-to-face outpatient appointments, with the exception of clinically urgent cases. This includes all appointments offered by our service at Nottingham Hospitals and at our outreach clinics in Mansfield, Grantham, Boston, Spalding, Lincoln, Spalding, Skegness and Derby.
At present, we are able to offer some patients telephone consultations where appropriate. This may not be an option for all patients and unfortunately, some appointments may need to be cancelled or postponed.
If you have an up-coming appointment with our service and are not sure if it has been cancelled or converted to a telephone consultation please contact us directly and do not travel to the hospital.
Our specialist Genetics Service, based at Nottingham City Hospital, receives referrals from across the East Midlands Region and other parts of the UK.
The service provides diagnosis, genetic counselling and support to patients and families with (or at risk of) a range of inherited disorders. It also provides services for non-inherited conditions with a genetic basis.
Our team includes consultant clinical geneticists, genetics counsellors, and specialist genetics laboratory staff (clinical cytogenetics, and molecular genetics).
