Playlist for Life

What is Playlist for Life?

Playlist for life nurses with an iPodWe are the first hospital in the country to pilot a new scheme which uses music to help patients with dementia.

Working with the charity Playlist for Life, staff will work with patients and their families or carers to create a tailored playlist.

There is growing evidence that if people with dementia are offered frequent access to the music in which their memories are embedded, it can improve their mood, their awareness, their sense of identity and independence, whilst at the same time reducing anxiety and distress.

How can I help?

We need more iPods so that we can help more patients with dementia. Nottingham Hospitals Charity are kindly supporting this scheme. If you have an old iPod you would like to donate you can drop it off at either the City Hospital or QMC. There are two collection points at QMC - one just inside the main entrance near the security office, and one outside the D floor canteen. The collection point at City Hospital is outside the Cityside restaurant.
