Families whose children’s lives have been saved by the dedicated teams at Nottingham Children’s Hospital remember every aspect of this amazing place. But many more people in Nottingham are less aware of the Children’s Hospital’s incredible work and its reputation as a regionally acclaimed centre of excellence for children’s health.
All that is set to change with the launch of a specially-commissioned Short Animation which sees the Children’s Hospital’s ‘Little Robin Hood’ mascot take viewers for a behind-the-scenes whistle-stop tour of the hospital, as part of the hospital’sBig Appealcampaign. It will be playing in the Showcase cinema in Nottingham and then other venues in the area.
Treating around 60,000 children and young people each year makes it important that the people of Nottingham know about our hospital so that they can throw their support behind our Big Appeal which aims to raise £3million over the next three years.
The Big Appeal offers a unique opportunity for the hospital to enhance both the range of new specialist diagnostic equipment for children and research new treatments. It will also allow us to further improve onsite facilities and accommodation for families who need to be near their children in hospital. All of this is vital in achieving good outcomes for our young patients.
The Children’s Hospital is a specialist centre for the children and young people of Nottingham and also critically ill children with cancer, kidney, brain and respiratory conditions from the region and beyond. But many people are surprised by the scale of the work at the Children’s Hospital which employs over 700 staff, has 120 beds, two outpatient departments, a children's Emergency Department, a day surgery unit, and a team who care for seriously ill children in their own homes, as well as numerous community clinics run across the City.
