Nicola Hempsall

‘Mature, intuitively kind and understanding’

This nomination is a family affair! Nicola is part of the Neo-natal Unit at City Hospital and who better than her own brother to talk about why she is so deserving of a nomination for Nursing Associate of the Year.

He said: “Nicola is a committed and caring individual who works incredibly hard in her role as a nursing associate. Her passion for the profession is clear and she is without doubt a credit to NUH for her non-stop work and dedication to both her work as a nursing associate and her studies alongside the role at Derby University.

Another close friend (she says she’s almost a relative!) describes just how much of a big heart Nicola has, supporting her through a traumatic period of her life: “Nicola is the most empathetic and genuinely caring person I know. I cannot think of anyone I would rather have caring for me or a loved one, young or old, in vulnerable times. I would know I could rely on her.

“When my mum was dying she drove miles to be with her, after a full day’s work, and could not have been more mature, intuitively kind and understanding of my mum’s needs. She’s a gem and it would be great to see her being given a thanks and encouragement for her dedication.”
