Meet the teams behind Nottingham’s hospitals
This Saturday (17 August) Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) will be heading out into the community to meet the local residents who use services at Queen’s Medical Centre, City Hospital and Ropewalk House.
Designed in collaboration with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association, the NUH Community Roadshow is an opportunity for local residents to meet teams from across our hospitals in an informal ‘market-place’. The Roadshow is the first outreach event of its kind for the Trust, bringing the staff behind the services at the city’s hospitals closer to the community.
Teams in attendance include the Patient and Public Involvement Team, Diabetes UK, MS nurses, the recruitment team, the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery Care Excellence, and the Research and Innovation Team, among others.
Each year the hospital facilitates close to one million outpatient appointments, more than 15,500 planned operations and more than 14,000 emergency and trauma admissions. With such a high footfall and increasing pressure on the NHS, the Roadshow team were keen to give residents the opportunity to speak one-on-one with nurses, doctors, clinical and support staff, in a relaxed and informal environment.
The Roadshow also offers Nottingham residents the opportunity to discuss their health needs, learn lifesaving skills such as CPR and hear from community GPs who will be giving a talk on caring for loved ones with dementia.
The Roadshow has been specifically designed with the multi-cultural communities NUH serves in mind. With around 16,700 members of staff at NUH, the Roadshow teams represent a variety of different ethnicities, religions, sexualities, genders and beliefs, giving residents the opportunity to discuss inclusivity at NUH and how all of our patients’ needs are met.

Roadshow events like this give us the opportunity to meet residents from so many different backgrounds, and listen to what they have to tell us about their experience of using our hospitals – both where we’ve done well, and where we can make positive changes.”
The Roadshow also offers the opportunity for residents to find out more about the career choices available as part of Team NUH. We have regular vacancies for healthcare assistants and a successful OSCE programme, achieving 98% pass rate, available for internationally-registered nurses looking to take the next step in their application to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Interested applicants are encouraged to meet with nursing team representatives available on the day.
The NUH Community Roadshow will be taking place on Saturday 17 August, 1-5pm at Baitul Hafeez Mosque (308 Sneinton Dale, Nottingham, NG3 7DN). Everyone is welcome, and no booking is required.
