Nottingham University Hospitals is really pleased to partner with The Lewis Foundation, a Midlands based charity who source, package and hand deliver gift packs for free to adult cancer patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Nottingham University Hospitals is the latest NHS Trust to partner with the charity that has been making a real difference to cancer patients since they were set up in April 2016.
Lead Cancer nurse Ellie Robinson said: “We are really pleased to partner with The Lewis Foundation. No-one is doing what they do for cancer patients. Having treatment for cancer is a scary time and the gift packs they provide are just a small distraction and support at a difficult time. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and I know that our patients will be really grateful too.”
How it works: A patient picks a gift pack of their choice from the gift list. Packs range from toiletries, puzzle books and care packs. Once the gift is received, it is free to keep with nothing expected in return.
Lorraine Lewis, who started the charity with her husband Lee, said: “From our own personal experiences and throughout our charity work, we have witnessed the difference giving a gift makes. This is a difference to not only to the person receiving treatment but also their loved ones. As a charity we are proud that thanks to our community, every gift we give is for free and nothing is expected in return. It is a way to show as a society we do care about others and that we support people during their time of need. That is why we are excited about providing our gift packs to people receiving treatment in Nottingham, as it is an opportunity to spread our kindness further.”
