Your Majesty,

We write, on behalf of the Nottingham University Hospitals (NHS) Trust, to offer our heartfelt condolences to you and your family, for the loss of our much loved Queen Elizabeth II. The Queen has a special place in our hearts and in the history of the Nottingham University Hospitals because one of our hospitals, the Queen's Medical Centre, was opened by Her Majesty in 1977. To this day, local people and former colleagues recall the visit with great fondness and we are immensely proud of our association with Queen Elizabeth 11.

Since opening, many millions of people have benefited from care and compassion in the building which proudly bears Her Majesty's name, including indeed Your Majesty, whom we were humbled and privileged to provide specialised care for following the injury to your arm in 1990 whilst playing polo.

During her long and successful reign, Queen Elizabeth II touched the lives of millions of people across the world. The Queen represented all that is good about service, devotion and wise leadership, and she will be missed, globally, nationally, and particularly here in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

As you and your family grieve, so does the nation and the world, and we want you to know our thoughts are with you, not only for your loss, but for your journey ahead. We wish you good fortune and we offer our support to you as you begin your reign as our new King. As we continue our work to support local people in the best way we can, we know you will do the same for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

Nick Carver OBE,           Anthony May,
Chair                               Chief Executive
