Last chance to nominate Nottingham’s Hospital heroes

The deadline for nominations in the annual Team NUH Awards has now been extended until Friday 30 August 2019.

The awards recognise staff, teams and volunteers at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust who go above and beyond for patients, staff and the community.

Have you received great care at Queen’s Medical Centre, City Hospital or Ropewalk House? Why not say thank you by nominating a team, individual or volunteer for a Team NUH Award.

Patient Bruce Lakin nominated Alison Dinning, Clinical Lead for Education and Development, in the Aspiring Excellence Award. He said: “I find Ali so professional and so polite to everyone she meets. She is thoughtful and empathic to all staff, specially her students. As a volunteer simulated patient I can witness this first hand, and she is always supportive and encouraging when we are working together during simulated examinations.”

Patient Alicia Hunter nominated Sophie Robson, Children’s Nurse, in the Compassion in Action category after caring for her baby who fell ill. She said: “During a really difficult time when my eight-day-old baby fell ill, Sophie went above and beyond what was expected of her. She filled both my husband and I with confidence that our baby boy was getting the best treatment. She helped us stay positive when our world was falling apart and for such a young and newly qualified nurse she was exceptional and deserves recognition for the work she does. She is a credit to the NHS.”

The Team NUH Awards are sponsored an funded by Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Barbara Cathcart, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We are so proud to once again be supporting the Team NUH Awards, to recognise and celebrate the amazing staff we have working here at Nottingham’s hospitals, as well as those who fundraise to support the hospitals. As one of the judges of the awards, I love reading the wonderful things patients have to say about our staff and supporters – so please send your nomination in today, before it’s too late!”

So far, we have received more than 850 nominations in 16 categories, ranging from Volunteer of the Year to Team of the Year with a few new additional categories including: Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Award and Apprentice of the Year Award – recognising staff the 16,500 staff that make-up Team NUH.
