Hundreds of hospital stars nominated for Team NUH Awards

Patients, visitors and staff have nominated over 350 hospital workers in just four weeks who they think have gone and beyond  to provide the best care for patients and their families.

The hospitals’ annual awards recognise the hard work and dedication of staff who go the extra mile at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) – which includes Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham City Hospital, Ropewalk House and some community services for patients and their families/carers.

Tracy Taylor, NUH Chief Executive, said: “We are very fortunate at NUH to have so many passionate, compassionate and talented staff and volunteers who make up Team NUH, and fundraisers who support our hospitals. So many members of Team NUH go above and beyond for our patients and show day in and day out their determination to do the very best job for patients, and these awards are one of the many ways in which our staff receive the recognition and appreciation they deserve for the fantastic job they do.”

Patient Gillian Bennett, nominated Ward E14 in the ‘Team of the Year’ category for the outstanding care she received earlier this year, Her nomination for the ward, read:: “I cannot put into words how amazing the nurses and other staff are on E14. The care and compassion they showed me was second to none.”

Rebecca Coggins, the mother of a patient, nominated Jacqui Alexander, Paediatric Endocrine Nurse Specialist, in the ‘Unsung Hero’ category. She said: “She always goes that extra mile to ensure everyone in her family is included in my daughter’s care.

“She is an amazing individual who doesn’t get enough credit for the difference she makes.”

The Team NUH Awards are supported and funded by the Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

Barbara Cathcart, Chief Executive of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said: “We are delighted to support the Team NUH Awards in celebration of the amazing staff here at Nottingham’s hospitals. On a daily basis I hear stories of donors and fundraisers who want to give back to the hospitals to say ‘thank you’ for the care they or their loved ones have received here. The staff awards, which have been funded by Nottingham Hospitals Charity for the past 12 years, are a wonderful opportunity to show staff just how appreciated they are, and recognise those who have gone the extra mile for their patients.”
