Celebrating our dedicated & long-serving staff who make up #TeamNUH
The hard work and dedication of Nottingham hospitals’ long-serving staff was celebrated this evening at a special awards ceremony, in the same month we mark the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service (NHS).
More than 200 staff who work across Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) mark milestone years’ service to the Trust in 2018, ranging from25 to over 40 years’ service. Tonight they were recognised and thanked for their exceptional contributions to patient care.
Sara Deakin, Practice Development Nurse on Gillies Ward at Nottingham City Hospital is celebrating 25 years’ continuous service at NUH. She said: “I am staggered to believe that I’ve worked at NUH for 25 years which equates to almost half of my life. These awards are a really positive recognition for the dedication and hard work of staff and long may they continue. I am very proud of all I have achieved and contributed to NUH and the wider NHS. It is so often the very small acts with patients and their families that I know have made a difference to their experience that I am probably most proud of.”
This year’s award ceremony celebrated the staff that began their careers at NUH in the milestone years of 1993, 1988 and 1983 with a special category to celebrate our longest-serving staff who have dedicated over 40 years’ service.
Eric Morton, NUH Chair, said: “This year we fittingly celebrate our staff Long Service Awards in the same month as the NHS – the country’s most precious institution - celebrates its 70th anniversary. We are incredibly proud of every member of Team NUH for their dedication and valued contributions to patient care over very many years.”
Russell Hart, Deputy General Manager for Cancer and Associated Specialties Division and Radiotherapy Service Manager, celebrated 30 years’ of service. Russell is a leader in the Radiotherapy Service at Nottingham City Hospital where over 3,500 patients receive treatment each year. He said: “It feels good to be recognised for my all my years at Nottingham’s hospitals. I am extremely proud of the treatments and therapies we provide for patients across the whole of the East Midlands that are continuously developing year-on-year. I’d sum up my experience of working here as, tremendous team spirit!”
Colin Mudd, who works as a Team Leader and Biomedical Scientist, was one of 15 staff recognised tonight for dedicating over four decades of service to the Trust.
He said: “It is outstanding to still work for the same employer 42 years later and I am very proud and privileged of the people I have worked with and that I have helped develop over these years. If you had told me right at the beginning I would still be here after all these years I wouldn’t have believed you, but it is the commitment from both staff and patients, the fascinating work, including innovations from across the board and the amazing people I have worked with who have made me stay.”
