Kammi Biant has been a Nottingham University Hospitals volunteer for six years. She says:
“I would really encourage anyone thinking about becoming a Nottingham Hospital’s Volunteer to apply - it’s a great thing to have in your life and I look forward to it every week".
Kammi, who is married with two sons and is a grandma to two children, has a love for helping others. On top of her volunteering at Nottingham University Hospitals, where she helps patients and visitors on the Tram bridge and entrance, she volunteers at her local charity shop, and delivers prescriptions to those that cannot access pharmacies.
She says:
“I’ve always loved meeting new people, I don’t want to sit at home - I want to be on the move.
“Being able to speak English, Punjabi and Hindi has enabled me to help a lot of patients and visitors during my time as a volunteer at the hospital. Everybody that you speak to is an individual and I enjoy being able to help make their visit to our hospitals that little bit easier and brighter”.
Speaking of how she misses being able to volunteer due to the current situation, she says:
“I can’t wait to come back, meet new patients and visitors and be back with my other colleagues”.
