Award hope for garden team

A restored garden at QMC has been shortlisted for a national award.

The  Ear, Nose and Throat courtyard was replanted and refreshed last July to give patients a space to wait and reflect.

The project, which involved NUH staff,   Colleen White and her team of apprentices from Nottingham City Council's Parks and Open Spaces Department  and Clugston Facilities Management, has been shortlisted for a HSJ Healthcare Partnership Award.

The team has faced a judging panel in London and are hopeful of being named Facilities Management Supplier of the Year at the awards on March 8.

Emlyn Jones, ENT Charge Nurse, said: "The garden has proved really popular with patients and visitors and it's great that the work has been shortlisted for an award. We're all crossing our fingers."

The project was the vision of Speech Therapist Katherine Behenna  and was supported by the Nottingham Hospital's Charity with £13,000 of funding and saw the installation of new planters and shrubbery as well as a new wheelchair ramp and rail.
