A week on: looking back at our Team NUH Awards ceremony

Earlier this month, we announced the overall winners of our inaugural Team NUH Awards. The nine winners were revealed during a live television studio style broadcast watched by a virtual audience of over 400, including international viewers! Take a look at the winners here and you can also watch the award ceremony on catch up here.

The awards were made possible by sponsorship. We would like to again thank our sponsors for their support in making this event possible. Let's hear what our sponsors said about the awards and this year's shortlist. Tom Dalby, CEO of Blue Light Card, who sponsored the Trust category said: "It's been heart warming to read so many wonderful nominations over the last couple of weeks, and Nottingham University Hospitals should really be proud to have such a dedicated and passionate workforce. I think now, more than ever, we've all come to realise the importance of compassion, and doing more for others. Going the extra mile can make such a huge impact on someone's life, especially if that someone is in hospital of facing a life-changing illness or event. We've received nominations from all walks of life and from countless departments, but one thing that remained steadfast throughout was the selflessness and empathy displayed by each and every person who was put forward. I think it takes a special type of person to show up for others every single day, especially during a global pandemic where there's a great personal risk to yourself, and work to support, care and in some cases add a tremendous amount of value to the lives of others. So, I'd just like to say on behalf of Blue Light Card that we're forever grateful for your service to those who need it most. Congratulations on being shortlisted and showing up each day and changing lives for the better."

Professor Stephen Ryder, Clinical Director of Research and Innovation at NUH, our Empower award sponsor, said: "In a year where there have been so many contributions to enable NUH to develop new Covid-19 treatments through our clinical research, it's gratifying to see how the work of Team NUH members and our volunteers is being recognised. Well done to everyone who has been shortlisted; your efforts have been really appreciated."

Doctor Maria Koufali, Managing Director of Nottingham Health Science Partners, Ambitious award sponsor, said: "Innovation is what drives change and improvements in the care that we can offer our patients. Congratulations to everyone who has contributed to making those improvements in the last year and for continuing to be ambitious for what we can achieve at NUH in the future."

Health Assured, sponsors of the Mindful award said: Health Assured want to congratulate all the shortlist nominees for their incredible hard work to get this far. Your achievements are inspiring, so a huge well done to you all."

Debbie Guy, Director of Operations at Nervecentre, sponsors of the Nurturing award, said: "Congratulations to everyone who made the shortlist for the awards. Everyone who was nominated deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication which made it very difficult to decide on the overall winners."

Tim Hesketh, CEO of Tram Link Nottingham, said: "The values and behaviours you have shown truly exemplify the difference made to your patients, colleagues and the wider community. This has been both an incredibly humbling and special event and we are honoured to recognise your success, along with the hard work and dedication you have shown. Congratulations on your achievement at this year’s Team NUH Awards."

William Reynolds, Partner at Browne Jacobson Law, our Honest category sponsor, said: "Well done to all the winners and nominees for this year’s NUH Team Awards. It was truly inspiring to read about all the amazing work everyone is doing at the Trust and reading the nominations showed just how many truly inspirational people there are working for NUH. Every winner and nominee should be proud of the hard work they are doing and their dedication to the Trust, the NHS, and their patients. It was an honour to take part and contribute towards recognising this across the Trust. Congratulations everyone.”

Barbara Cathcart, CEO of Nottingham Hospitals Charity, the sponsor of the Public Nominated category, said: "A huge congratulations to all the extremely deserving winners at this year's Team NUH Awards. We know it has been an incredibly challenging year for Team NUH, but as a Charity we have been so moved to see our NHS colleagues continue to go above and beyond for their patients, even under the most difficult of circumstances."

And finally, a spokesperson from Tusker CPC Drive, sponsors of the Volunteer of the Year category, would like to congratulate everyone who made the shortlist.

As well as our sponsors, on the judging panel were:

  • Chief Constable Guildford, Nottinghamshire Police
  • Amanda Sullivan, Accountable Officer, NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire CCG and Interim Executive Lead Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System
  • Alex Norris MP
