Update on the Medilink service

Update on the Medilink service

Following media reports today, we would like to offer an update on the Medilink service.

The Medilink is popular with patients, visitors and staff, with some 1.4m passengers using the service each year. It reduces the traffic on the city's busy roads and congestion at our hospitals.

We are working closely with our partners at the City Council to ensure patients, visitors and staff have the right mix of affordable public transport options to get to and from our hospitals.

It is our understanding that the proposed charges apply to all passengers who use the Medilink at Wilkinson Street and Queen's Drive Park and Ride, and patients and visitors boarding at other stops on route. The proposal is £1 per journey or £3.50 Group Return.

This fee remains cheaper than other bus services and parking at our hospitals for patients and visitors, and would cover the costs of the park and ride sites which are used by Medilink passengers. The service remains free to any city resident concessionary fares and prepaid Robin Hood season pass holders.
