A new location for the Children's Emergency Department

Our Children’s Emergency Department (ED) has temporarily moved a short distance to the Lyn Jarrett Unit on A Floor, East Block at the QMC, so building work can take place.

This is so we can revamp our Children’s ED to create two new paediatric resuscitation cubicles, bigger waiting areas and a new mental health space.

There are signs directing people to the Lyn Jarret Unit and there will also be floor markings, taking people from the old entrance of Children’s ED to its new location.

Colin Gilhooley, Consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, said: “We are delighted to announce that we will be investing £2.6M to expand our Children's and Young People Emergency Department at the QMC.

"This new expansion will create two new paediatric resuscitation cubicles, increase our clinical space by 50 percent increase, create a bigger waiting area, a new mental health space and a new entrance.

"Work for the new expansion will take around two-three months and we will still be able to provide care for anyone who needs it whilst we doing the building work.”

The improvements will be funded by capital money the hospital trust has access to every year.
