SAS Grade Doctors

Staff and Associate Specialist Grade Doctors, also known as Specialty Doctor/Associate Specialists (SAS) are posts approved by the Royal College and created by our Trust to help different specialties.

The doctors in this grade work at a level ranging from core trainees to consultant, depending on their experience. Their main aim is to provide a service to the Trust and is therefore not considered a training post. Some training may be incorporated into these roles with the Trust's and Clinical Director's agreement. This counts towards training and may help individuals applying to go on the Specialist Register, through article 14 of PMETB.

With the recent commitment by the Department of Health, funding has been allocated for Doctors in this grade to help with their continuous education, personal development, revalidation and to help them through article 14 of PMETB.
