The fertility clinic is an NHS based clinic, located on B floor, east block and adjacent to clinic 3. Click here for patient information sheets for fertility patients.

It is licensed by the human fertilisation and embryology authority and is inspected annually.

Opening Times

MONDAY –THURSDAY 8.00am – 4.00pm
FRIDAY 8.00am – 1.30pm
SATURDAY 8.30am – 12.00pm (noon) *

 *This is a treatment clinic only.  For all enquiries please ring during normal office hours.

Emergency Procedure

 If you have an urgent enquiry during the normal office hours contact the Fertility Clinic using the telephone number above.  Out of hours in an emergency contact the Queen’s Medical Centre on 0115 924 9924 ext. 49031 (Ward C31).  A contact number will be given on an individual basis depending which member of staff is on duty.

1 Initial Consultation    
2 Ultrasound Follicle Scanning Service available Monday to Saturday
3 Tubal Assessment a) Dye/Laparoscopy  
    b) Hy-Co-Sy  
4 Blood tests: Hormone profiles Proof of ovulation
      Ovarian reserves
    Rubella  
    Full blood count etc.  
5 Investigation of male partner: Semen analysis  
    Hormonal Analysis  

Treatment Services

1 Donor Insemination
2 Controlled ovarian stimulation (superovulation) and intrauterine insemination of partner’s washed sperm
3 Induction of Ovulation Clomiphene
    Metformin
    Gonadotrophins
    Ovarian drilling
4 Counselling. An independent counsellor is available for all patients, either together or individually.

Teaching

The QMC is a major teaching/University Hospital and so medical students, student nurses or junior doctors may be present during your consultation/treatment. You may choose not to have them present but you must indicate this to the nursing sister in charge of the clinic.
