Department. This site has been designed to provide you with
information about the Pharmacy Department, Nottingham University
Hospitals NHS Trust, current vacancies within the Pharmacy
Department with some useful links.
The pharmacy department at Nottingham University Hospitals covers
both the Queens's Medical Centre Campus and Nottingham City Campus
and provides a service to wards and departments throughout the
hospitals, to University Departments, other Trusts in Nottingham,
other Trusts in the UK, local community pharmacies, the
pharmaceutical industry and purchasers from outside the UK.
The department comprises:
Our 24 hour service includes
In-patient, out-patient and take home dispensing
Preparation of sterile products, both aseptically prepared and
terminally sterilised including TPN, cytotoxic drugs, intravenous
additives and many other products prepared for individual patients
or in bulk.
Preparation of non-sterile products both extemporaneously for
individuals or in bulk, including ointments, creams, suppositories,
powders, solutions and suspensions
Procurement of drugs, dressings, fluids and other ward and
departments stock
Clinical pharmacy to wards
Medicine information enquiry answering, with access to major medical
and pharmaceutical databases
Formulary maintenance and development, including
guidelines/protocols.
Clinical trials support and monitoring
Support to Therapeutics Committee in terms of formulary, clinical
guideline development and drug usage review.
Financial management information on drug usage and trends to guide
Directorates and service development.
