We make every effort to ensure our clinics run as smoothly as possible, but we need your help.
If you no longer need your appointment, or you need to rearrange it, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can give the appointment to another patient.
You can change or cancel appointments using one of the methods below. You will need the details from your appointment letter.
Free SMS reminders
To help make sure you never miss an appointment sign up to our free text messaging service at your next outpatient appointment. The service sends free reminders to your mobile phone seven days and then two days before your appointment.
How to change your appointment at QMC, City Hospital or Ropewalk
To change your appointment at the QMC, City Hospital or Ropewalk (except for radiology or nuclear medicine clinics):
- Phone the clinic number on your appointment card or letter between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Please have your appointment letter or card to hand as you will be asked for your hospital number.
To change your outpatient, radiology or nuclear medicine appointment:
- If there are at least two working days before your appointment date, use the online forms here:
- If you are changing or cancelling with less than two working days' notice, please contact the clinic directly using the details on your appointment letter.
If you use the online form to request a change to your appointment we will contact you within three working days to agree a convenient date and time for a new appointment. If you use the online form to cancel your appointment, we will not contact you to offer a new appointment.

Choose and Book
Patients booking their first outpatient appointment can use Choose and Book to make, change, or cancel an appointment online. You will need the booking reference and password given to you by your GP when your referral was made.
