The Patient Hotel was opened in November 1994 and was the first purpose built Patient Hotel in the UK. 

There are 52 rooms in the hotel, mainly single, but some are three quarter, twin or family rooms to accommodate partners and families of patients/guests.

The hotel provides accommodation for the following types of guest:

• Maternity patients who have had a straightforward pregnancy and delivery, with their babies

• Partners of maternity patients

• Parents of babies being cared for in the Neonatal Unit

• Patients from wards or departments within the hospital who are able to take care of themselves within the hotel environment; for example cancer patients and physiotherapy patients who require daily treatment, and patients staying before or after an operation or procedure

• Relatives of patients who may be staying in the hospital or the hotel

• Delegates on hospital business such as conferences, training courses or interviews
